Bushnell Pro 1M Golf Laser Rangefinder

Bushnell Pro 1m Golf Laser Rangefinder Review

The BushneBushnell Pro 1M Slope reviewll Pro 1M laser rangefinder is an enhanced model to the Bushnell 1600 Slope Edition. One enhancement is the model’s Vivid Display Technology. This feature displays information in red in the viewfinder, unlike the previous models that offer black displays. It also offers 7x magnification along with a large field of view.

This horizontal-oriented device offers slope compensation, making it unsuitable for tournament use. The Pro 1M Slope also happens to be particularly bulky and heavy, a factor that may affect one’s purchase depending on personal comfort and remaining gear.

Pros

  • Clarity: The viewfinder offers crisp and clear imagery.
  • Accuracy: The device is precise and quick to acquire a target.
  • Magnification: The Bushnell Pro 1M offers a 7x magnification, more than many others in its class.

Cons

  • Large Size: The Bushnell Pro 1M may fit well depending on the player’s hands, but it is quite large and cumbersome.
  • Price: Having a retail price of around $600, the Bushnell Pro 1M is one of the more expensive rangefinders of its kind.
  • Limited Scan: The Pro 1M shows a limited ability to pan as there is no automatic scanning mode.
  • Slope Reading: For slope compensation the user must switch from the slope angle display to see the adjusted distance after releasing the firing button.

Ease of Use

While the device weighs a heavier 20 ounces, its horizontal holding style makes it easier to keep steady when acquiring targets. It features two buttons, one turns the device on and powers the laser while the other changes the settings. The Bushnell Pro 1M has limited ability when it comes to scanning targets across a landscape.

The PinSeeker mode assists in locking on to a target that the user can pan for a short time, but when continuing to pan to targets that are closer. Obtaining distances adjusted for slope can be complicated as the user is required to hold the fire button down until the line of sight distance is displayed, then release the button while the display shows the angle and adjusted distance alternately.

Features

The Pro 1M offers advanced digital technology that emits infrared energy. The digital microprocessor and ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) chip create accurate and instantaneous readings with ease. The device features fully multi-coated optics for impressive visual clarity along with a display that is simple, clear and easy to read.

The display offers a subtle tint to help reduce glare. The Pro 1M features a magnification of 7x, higher than many other models, and helps when aligning targets. The slope technology assists in measuring distances on an angle and adjusts yardage depending on the degree. The casing is waterproof to avoid damage from sudden precipitation.

Obtaining Readings

According to the manufacturer the Pro 1M has a range of 5 to 1,760 yards under optimal conditions. Like most devices it acquires targets easily up to 200 yards. It becomes more difficult to pick out targets above 200 yards but is still quite accurate the majority of the time.

The device is quick to pick out the closest target, meaning it would be best to aim higher to avoid picking up objects that are closer. The slope function, while useful on hilly courses, can slow the device’s reading time significantly.

Cost/Value

The Bushnell Pro 1M is one of the more expensive slope adjusting rangefinders. It still offers fast and accurate readings, slope compensation, 7x magnification and a sharp viewfinder in return.
